Of the series this is my favorite novel. I like they way the author acknowledges teenage struggles with depression, personal self worth, isolation and sexual awareness. As a college freshman Tony manages his struggle through his art and a set of physical outlets - racquetball and sex. Of course, the friendship and love of his two companions provides the heart of the book's charm to me. I was very caught up in the actual scene that this novel is named after. You will have to read it to appreciate it.
The author develops the primary character well and makes you interested in him and his life. Perhaps I have a romantic view that great artists are passionate, moody, socially unusual, and that makes them sexual magnets for a intelligent and beautiful woman. The book has romance, humor and a fair bit of sexual content.
First web the story on a story website and felt that it was written so well that I wanted to buy the book.
