This book is full of great information on the history of the martial arts. I was actually surprised to see such a detailed account of the origin of the fighting arts. Mr. Hill really did is homework. The author takes you all over the world explaining every style of martial arts from the past and present. He goes into great detail on the Chinese arts such as Kung Fu, Whushu and the Shaolin monks. He writes about the ancient traditional Japanese arts of the Sekiguchi Shinshin Ryu and Daito Ryu of 100's of years ago to the modern traditional styles such as Danzan Ryu Jujutsu or Senso Ryu Aikijujutsu. He also goes into great detail about techniques of newer sport grappling arts like Brazilian Jiu-jitsu which I found to be quite interesting in a book about history. There are lists of submission holds and MMA terminology. The list goes on and on. There are a lot of books out there on the history of the martial but this book really delves deeply into a lot of subject matter that most other books leave out. I would definitely recommend this book for any serious student of the martial arts.Product details
